The Underwater Positioning, Navigation and Communication Committee of the German Institute of Navigation (DGON) is the central expert forum for technologies enabling positioning, navigation and communication in the underwater maritime environment. It connects experts from academia, research, industry, public authorities and user organizations, promoting interdisciplinary exchange on current developments and future challenges.

The focus is on innovative methods and systems for reliable positioning, navigation and data communication underwater. The Committee addresses sensor technology, acoustic communication, autonomous underwater vehicles and the integration of advanced underwater systems. Its aim is to promote knowledge transfer between research and practical applications and to provide impetus for the advancement of maritime technologies.
