About the Commission

The Aviation Commission (LFK) of DGON is the expert committee dedicated to current developments in civil aviation. It brings together experts from academia, industry, public authorities, as well as user and operator organizations to promote professional exchange on Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS).

The focus is on airborne systems, ground-based procedures and emerging technologies for safe, efficient and sustainable air transport. The Commission monitors current developments and provides a platform for scientific and technical exchange.

History

The Aviation Commission has around 100 members and usually meets twice a year. The meetings regularly bring together 30 to 50 experts from academia, industry, public authorities, as well as user and operator organizations.

Today’s Aviation Commission traces its origins back to the “Radio Positioning in Aviation” working group, founded in 1951, and has existed in its current form since 1961.

Events

The Aviation Commission organizes and supports international professional events and symposia, including:

  • ESAVS (Enhanced Solutions for Aircraft and Vehicle Surveillance)

  • ISPA (International Symposium on Precision Approach and Performance-Based Navigation)

These events promote international knowledge transfer and make important contributions to the advancement of navigation, surveillance and safety systems in aviation.
