About the Committee

The Radar Technology Committee of DGON is the expert body for current developments in radar technology and modern sensor systems. It brings together experts from academia, industry, public authorities, as well as user and operator organizations, and promotes scientific and technical exchange.

Radar technology is relevant across a wide range of fields today, including aviation and maritime transport, the automotive sector, industrial sensing, Earth observation and security-related applications. The Committee monitors current developments, discusses new methods and applications, and supports knowledge transfer between academia, industry and public authorities.

History

The origins of the Radar Technology Committee date back to 1951. It evolved from the then Radar Committee within the field of radio positioning and was integrated into DGON in 1961 as the Committee for Radar Methods and Technology. Since then, it has accompanied the development of radar technology and its applications across various fields of transport and navigation.

Professional Exchange

The Radar Technology Committee brings together experts from various fields and meets regularly to discuss current issues in radar technology. It is jointly operated with the “Positioning” Committee of the Information Technology Society (ITG) within VDE.

Activities & Events

The Radar Technology Committee regularly organizes the International Radar Symposium (IRS). This international professional event provides a platform for exchanging knowledge on the latest research findings, technological developments and future applications of radar technology.
